How close are you to Yosemite National Park?
June Lake is approximately 30 minutes from the eastern gate of Yosemite National Park, 45 minutes from Tuolumne Meadows, and about 2.5 hours from Yosemite Valley. Note that Tioga Pass (CA-120), the primary route to Yosemite, is closed during the winter months and usually opens between June and October. We recommend checking current road conditions before traveling this route.
How close are you to June Mountain Ski Area?
June Mountain is just one mile away from June Lake Pines, which is less than a 5-minute drive. Known as California's Family Mountain, June Mountain offers free skiing for children under 12. The resort is typically open from mid-December to mid-April.
How difficult is it to drive in the winter?
Driving in the Eastern Sierra during winter can be challenging. While Caltrans and county workers do their best to maintain safe road conditions, closures can occur and may be unpredictable. Before traveling to June Lake during the winter months, please check the latest weather and road conditions at http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi .
It is highly recommended (and sometimes required by Caltrans) to carry chains during winter. Having an all-wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive (4x4) vehicle is also advised.
If Highway 395 is closed and you cannot reach June Lake, we will refund your stay for each night the highway is closed after 4 PM. Please note that refunds will not be provided if you are unable to reach us due to not having chains or snow tires. For full details, refer to our cancellation policy.
Do your cabins have kitchens and what are they stocked with?
All of our cabins, with the exception of Cabin 9, include full kitchens equipped with a refrigerator, gas range, oven, microwave, toaster, and drip coffee maker. Each kitchen is fully stocked with the essentials for preparing and enjoying your meals, including dishware, pots and pans, silverware, and more. We also provide dish and hand soap, paper towels, kitchen towels, and a dish sponge. Plus, each cabin comes with a JLB growler that you can take to the local brewery to fill with some super awesome beer. Additionally, propane grills are available for use on the property.
Cabin 9, our motel-style room, offers a mini-fridge, microwave, drip coffee maker, and glasses, but does not include a full kitchen.
Do you have parking?
Our parking area is accessible via a one-way entrance with a horseshoe flow, leading you to the exit after acces to the main parking area. When entering the driveway, follow the steep incline up and to the left of the first cabin, which is marked with the June Lake Pines Cottages sign. Please avoid parking to the right of this cabin, as that area is not part of our property. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis, with one vehicle per cabin. Additional parking is available on the street.
Please note that the property was built in the 1920s, before the advent of large trucks and SUVs. We ask guests with larger vehicles to be considerate by occupying only one parking spot and avoiding blocking access or other guests. The driveway can be steep and challenging in winter conditions, especially without 4-wheel drive. If you anticipate snow overnight and do not have a 4x4 vehicle, we recommend parking on the street.
Do you have heating and A/C?
Our cabins are heated with propane heaters and are also equipped with extra space heaters if needed. While the cabins do not have air conditioning (common for our area), we do provide fans for your comfort.
Are your cabins pet friendly?
Dogs are welcome in Cabins 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 15 for an additional charge of $20 per night per dog. Please keep dogs on a leash at all times while on the property and clean up after them. Dog waste bags are available next to the laundry room. For the comfort of all guests, do not leave dogs unattended in your cabin. A violation fee may apply if a pet is found in a non-pet-friendly cabin.
Can you accommodate early check ins?
If you would like to request an early check-in, it’s best to call us before the day of your arrival to provide us with your estimated time of arrival (ETA). While we generally try to accommodate early check-ins, it may be more challenging during busy summer months and winter holidays. On the day of your check-in, we will text all guests when their cabins are ready, even if it’s before the standard 4 PM check-in time.
Are there bears in the area?
Bears can appear in June Lake at any time of the year. They are primarily attracted to food, so please keep all food, trash, coolers, or anything that might look or smell like food stored securely inside. While bears are often seen in the area, they are usually not a threat as they are more interested in scavenging for trash. However, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings, especially at night, as bears prefer not to be surprised. Ensure all trash is properly disposed of to minimize any attractants.
Do you have a laundry area?
Our laundry room is available 24 hours a day for guest use and includes a coin-operated washer and dryer. It is also stocked with extra supplies such as towels, kitchen supplies, toilet paper, and more. We do not provide daily service, so please feel free to help yourself to any supplies you need during your stay. If you are staying for an extended period, we are happy to replace linens upon request.
Where is your office located?
We do not have a regular office or office hours. If you need assistance, please call or text us at 760-648-7522. You can also reply directly to the check-in message sent on the day of your arrival. Owners Lauren and Aaron live on-site and are available to help with any questions or concerns you may have.
Do you provide firewood?
Cabins with fireplaces can purchase firewood at the general store across the street. If available, extra firewood is located near the fish sink, between the workshop and the laundry room. Please feel free to help yourself.
